Bill's Newscast: Snow Runoff Featured

Snow runoff will help with drought relief

Last week’s storm that dumped plenty of snow in northern Arizona has at least one benefit.  Meteorologist Justin Johndrow says all the moisture received should lessen the drought conditions a little bit. Johndrow explains there will be more water released as the snow melts.

Sunny skies and dry conditions are expected to continue through Friday.  There’s a chance of showers by Saturday, with snow only at the highest elevations

Play it Safe Plagrounds

Share your comments on an inclusive playground design in the Granville subdivision.   The Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 6:30 tonight in the Library Auditorium on Skoog Boulevard to discuss the design.  Earlier this month, the Commission heard from Play It Safe Playgrounds, which presented multiple new playground designs that get kids of all abilities to play, move and interact together.  The Commission is asking for public comments on the elements they would most like to see in the new playground.  Interested residents are encouraged to attend tonight’s meeting and bring recommendations for equipment.  The playground will include equipment similar to that being used in the newly upgraded playground at George Anderson Park on Superstition Drive.

Special Meetings

The Prescott Valley and Dewey-Humboldt Town Councils are holding special meetings this week.  The Prescott Valley Town Council was scheduled to meet last night to discuss the Franklin Phonetic School parking and claim.  That meeting was cancelled and instead took place at 5 tonight in the Magistrate Courtroom at the Civic Center on Skoog Boulevard.  Council met with the Town’s legal advisors.  This session is closed to the public and no action was taken.  Meanwhile, in Dewey-Humboldt, Town Council will meet at 10 tomorrow morning to discuss the Town Manager appointment process.  Following that discussion, Council will go into a closed session regarding interviews of applicants for selection of a short list of candidates for further consideration.  Members will then reconvene into open session regarding appointment and direction to staff regarding terms of employment and preparation of a contract.  The Council meeting will be held in Town Hall on Highway 69.
