Bill's Newscast: Dewey-Humboldt Area Residents Can Share Concerns Tonight Featured

Dewey-Humboldt residents invited to meeting on the Iron King Mine Smelter Site

Dewey-Humboldt area residents can share their comments and concerns regarding the former Iron King Mine Smelter Site.  The Environmental Protection Agency is hosting a workshop at 6 tonight to hear ideas for the future of the site off Highway 69.  During a recent live appearance on Talk of the Town on 1130 AM, 99.9 FM and 95.5 FM, Dewey-Humboldt Mayor Terry Nolan explained they are trying to get a state park established. Nolan says this is a big project, but it will get done. Attendees will be asked what they want to see at the smelter property and the vision for the future during the workshop, which will be held at Humboldt Elementary School, located on Corral Street.

Watch for delays on Robinson Drive and West Carleton Street this week due to road work.  City of Prescott crews are preparing the subgrade along Robinson, between Butterfield and Overstreet Drive.  Robinson is closed to through traffic between East Gurley and Overstreet Drive.  The installation of sidewalks, driveway entrances and curb and gutter in that area is ongoing.  Temporary sidewalk closures will be in place while the work is underway, but personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents.  Work hours are 7 am to 6 pm through this Friday.    Meanwhile, asphalt paving has gotten started on West Carleton Street from the entrance to Mile High Middle School to Montezuma Street.  A closure of this intersection is in place while work is underway.  Access will be maintained whenever possible, but drivers should allow extra time to get through the area.  Work hours are 7 am to 7 pm through this Friday.
