Bill's Newscast: Trending Youth Drug Use in Yavapai County Featured

Results of the Arizona Youth Survey presented.

Learn about the results of the Arizona Youth Survey as part of a Lunch and Learn Session tomorrow morning.

MATForce, Yavapai County’s substance abuse coalition is sponsoring the session, which will identify and present results of last year’s Survey. The results provide answers on the why, what and how of drug use in Yavapai County. Over 1700 students in 8th, 10th and 12th grades took the survey, which is administered by the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission every 2 years. Catie Clark, Director of the Commission’s Statistical Analysis Center will discuss factors that increase or decrease the chances a teen will use drugs. Clark will also recommend strategies that parents, educators, health providers and the community can use to decrease chances of youth substance abuse. The presentation starts at 11:30 at the County Administrative Services Building on Fair Street in Prescott. It will be teleconferenced to the County building on 6th Street in Cottonwood.

Drivers can expect smoother travel on Washington Avenue and Churchill Street in Prescott.

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting have announced substantial completion has been reached on the Washington Avenue and Churchill Street reconstruction project. Improvements included the removal and replacement of existing asphalt along North Washington, from East Sheldon Street to Churchill, and along Churchill from North Washington to North Arizona Avenue. Other improvements included the installation of new water line, repairs to the existing sewer main and the replacement of sidewalks, valley gutters, driveway entrances and curb and gutter. Construction started in September of last year.
