Bill's Newscast: Out With the Old (Christmas Tree) Featured

Old Christmas trees can be a fire hazard.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office needs your help in finding a man who stole a wallet from Out of Africa Wildlife Park.

According to the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, a man dropped his wallet last Thursday after getting up from a picnic table at the park, located in Camp Verde.Later, a suspect was seen on video picking up the wallet and placing it in his jacket.  Marshal’s Office spokeswoman Darby Martin says the subject seen in the video is described as a 40 year old man wearing a ball cap, dark jacket, tan pants and bright green shoes.  Anyone who has information on this incident is asked to call the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office at (928) 634-8300.

Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to take down that live Christmas tree if you haven’t already.

Dried out trees are dangerous and they can create a fire hazard.  The City of Prescott and the Town of Prescott Valley are offering free pickup and disposal.  Prescott’s Solid Waste Division will perform tree collection next week.  City officials are asking customers to have their trees curbside by 6 on the morning of their normal collection day.  Clear trees of all decorations and stands and don’t bag them.  The Solid Waste Division will pass through each neighborhood 1 time only.  No plastic trees will be picked up.  Customers may also get rid of their trees at the Sundog Ranch Transfer Station for free during normal business hours.  Meanwhile, the Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation Department is accepting cut trees at its special dumpster.  These trees must also be free of all nails, stands, lights and decorations before they can be placed in the dumpster, located on Nace Lane off Robert Road.   Disposal hours are dawn to 10 pm daily until this Sunday.  Artificial trees, wreaths, yard debris and household waste won’t be permitted.  Anyone who doesn’t live within these areas should contact their trash service provider or visit either the Sundog or the Paulden Transfer Stations.
