Bill's Newscast: Primary Voting is This Tuesday

It's voting time!

Time to cast your ballot!

A reminder that Friday was the last day to vote early in person for the August 30th Primary Election.  Yavapai County Recorder Leslie Hoffman explains where early voting is taking place. Hoffman says there’s usually a bigger turnout for the General Election than there is for the Primary.  All early ballots need to be at the Yavapai County Recorder’s Office or any Vote Center no later than 7 Tuesday night.  Ballots shouldn’t be mailed in at this time since there’s a chance they may not arrive in time.  Late ballots won’t be counted.  Be sure to sign your affidavit envelope with your original handwriting.  For a list of Vote Centers, go online to yavapai.us or call the Recorder’s Office at 771-3248.

3,000 Flags

If you want to help put up or take down the 3 thousand American flags that will be set up on the Prescott Valley Civic Center lawn, attend a volunteer orientation meeting.  The Prescott Valley Healing Field started in 2012 as a way to honor those who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  Flags were later added to honor the Granite Mountain Hot Shots killed in the June 30th, 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire.  During a live appearance on Monday’s Q&A Show with host DJ Fone on KQNA 1130 AM and 99.9 and 95.5 FM, Event Organizer Darlene Packard outlined the schedule for the Healing Field. Packard says a special event will be held on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The volunteer orientation meeting starts at 9 tomorrow morning in the Crystal Meeting Room at the Prescott Valley Public Library on Civic Circle.  The 3,000 American flags will be up from September 10th through the 16th.
