Communities Are Looking for News Ways to Do Old Things

Learn about how the new Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority will impact area communities

The Yavapai County Republican Woman organization will host an event at 5 tonight featuring Fire and Medical Authority Chief Scott Freitag. The first Fire Authority in Arizona was created last October through an agreement between the Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. During a recent live appearance on the Talk of the Town show on 1130 AM and 99.9 FM KQNA, Freitag explained why the authority has been formed. Freitag says there will be shared administrative costs as well. The Authority, which goes into effect July 1st, covers 240 square miles of Yavapai County. The Republican Women meeting will be held at the Cornerstone Large Conference Room on 2nd Street in Prescott Valley.

The Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts are consolidating their services and 2 other districts are considering doing the same

The Clarkdale and Verde Valley Fire Districts have been discussing sharing services since last May. The Boards have directed their Fire Chiefs to meet to study and compare all aspects of the Districts. The Clarkdale Fire District has scheduled a public hearing for March 31st at the Memorial Clubhouse on 9th Street. The Verde Valley District hearing is April 5th at Godard Hall at Verde Valley Manor on Godard Road in Cottonwood. Both hearings start at 6.

The Prescott Valley Town Council meets at 5:30 tonight to consider a rezone for future development

Owners want to develop their properties on Spouse and Loos Drives from the current commercial designation to a classification that would allow multi-family residential and office type developments. Community Development Director Richard Parker explains the first step of the rezone process is already complete. Councilman Michael Whiting says he supports this effort. Twenty vacant properties will be affected by the rezone. Council’s voting session starts at 5:30 tonight in the Library Auditorium, located on Civic Circle.
