Opinion: “Have you no sense of decency?” Featured

The whole Washington DC swamp is a miasma of indecency.

During the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954, Joseph Welch, the attorney for the Army, asked Senator Joseph McCarthy that question. It is immaterial if one is of the opinion that McCarthy was a bully who ruined careers, or whether one thinks he did a grand public service by exposing communists in the government. McCarthy has been cast by history as a villain.

That question has pertinence in today's political scene. Almost the whole Democrat party should be asked if they have any sense of decency in their attempt to overturn a Constitutionally sound presidential election. Even with the Democrat's legislative obstruction, with their constant baseless investigations, their never ending threats of impeachment, (without President Trump committing any Constitutionally required “high crimes or misdemeanors”) and the parroting of the Democrat talking points by an antagonistic media, the President has accomplished a great deal for the country.

He has greatly reduced unemployment, the welfare rolls and cumbersome regulations that stifle economic growth. He has brought manufacturing jobs back to the US. He has made our country militarily strong and energy independent. He is keeping his promises on building the wall and curbing illegal immigration. Think what he could have accomplished without the obstacles forced on him by the Democrats and never Trump Republicans. It is obvious that these two groups have no sense of decency.

In the last week and a half, the main stream media, starting with the New York Times and then reported on the cable news networks, another attempt to trash the reputation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh with undertook another unsubstantiated rumor about sexual misconduct when he was in college. The alleged victim of this misconduct didn't remember it and there were no witnesses, only hearsay, but the NY Times printed the story and neglected to include that very pertinent information.

Then this past week, the media was all upset when a “whistle blower”, (read that to mean an Obama left over swamp rat in the Intelligence bureaucracy), told the Intelligence Inspector General that President Trump made a phone call to the Ukraine Prime Minister urging him to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, and the energy company that employed him. The inference was that Trump was using the leverage of $400 million in military aid to get Ukraine to do this. Word has just emerged that the Democrats are going to use this hearsay information to impeach the president, even though the “whistle blower” did not witness the phone call and no one has seen a transcript of the conversation. The left wing media has an agenda. What they apparently don't have is a sense of decency. (While writing this column the radio reported that Trump was going to release the transcript of his conversation with the Ukrainian Prime Minister, showing how devoid of criminality is was).

On July 26, 2017, FBI agents at Robert Mueller's direction conducted a raid on former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's Virginia home, using a search warrant to seize documents and other materials, in regard to the Russian meddling in the 2016 election. They found no evidence in Manafort's home but charged him with years old banking violations.

Then in January of this year Mueller had the FBI obtain a search warrant and arrested Trump advisor Roger Stone at his Florida home. CNN just happened to be there to report the FBI banging on Stone's door at 6AM with guns drawn, yelling for Stone to open up. The charges against Stone were obstruction, giving false statements and witness tampering. Stone had no history of violence. He was not a gun runner, dope dealer, murderer or gangster. The type of warrant service the FBI did on Stone is almost 100% of the time reserved for violent offenders. Robert Mueller was in charge and no doubt approved this overkill on a nonviolent suspect. With CNN having prior knowledge of this arrest, it looks like Mueller was intending to intimidate anyone who had anything to do with President Trump's election.

James Comey admitted that when he was FBI Director his agents “tricked” General Flynn into speaking with them without a lawyer, giving Flynn the impression that the interview was no big deal. They later charged him with lying to the FBI investigators. Then they possibly threatened to get his son involved if he didn't plead guilty. Mueller and Comey not only have no sense of decency, they have no sense of justice. The whole Washington DC swamp is a miasma of indecency. At this moment in our history only one man, President Trump has the will, power and decency to clean it up.
