League of Women Voters to Hold State Convention in Prescott Featured

2019 LWV OF AZ STATE CONVENTION IN PRESCOTT

The League of Women Voters of Central Yavapai County (LWVCYC) is hosting the bi-annual LWV of Arizona State Convention on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 in Prescott. League leaders and delegates from around Arizona will be meeting to discuss, caucus and decide on the program focus for the next two years.

Prescott Mayor Pro Tem Billie Orr and Supervisor Randy Garrison, Chair of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, will be welcoming the delegates and attendees. Guest Speakers include Kris Mayes, Professor of Practice, School for the Future of Innovation in Society, ASU, who served on the Arizona Corporation Commission from 2003 to 2010; Tammy Parise, Partnership Coordinator for the U.S. Census Bureau, Phoenix Area; and Liz Bander, Director/Trustee of the LWV of the United Sates and the LWV Education Fund. Gail Steiger, local rancher and musician/singer/cowboy poet will be performing at a barbecue dinner on Saturday evening.

Watch for the Fall Seminar Series presented by the LWVCYC in partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in support of the non-partisan LWV goal of encouraging informed citizens to actively participate in government. These events are made possible with the assistance of the LWV’s Education Fund which provides voter registration opportunities, election information through voter guides, and candidate forums and debates. All seminars are open to the public.
