Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers Take the Stage at the Whiskey Off-Road Featured

By Kristina Abbey April 28, 2019 71

It was a night of music and fun for riders and non-riders alike.

It was about 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 27th, when Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli climbed the steps to the stage set up at the Courthouse Square.

Tonight was the Whiskey Off-Road Concert which boasted lead act, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers. Mayor Mengarelli introduced the band and, as Mr. Clyne insisted, participated in the tradition to start a show with a shot of Roger Clyne’s own Mexican Moonshine.

Eagar fans cheered on the antics of the Mayor and Roger Clyne and the cheers grew in intensity as the band struck the opening chords of their opening song “Blue Collar Suicide.” The band performed several hit songs and throughout the night thanked the City of Prescott and the Peacemakers. So what is a Peacemaker? That would be not just the member of the band but also the fans. The message of his concert being keep growing and keep the peace.

Roger Clyne was excited to announce that this year marks the 20th anniversary since the band separated from a label and declared their independence. This is also a red letter year for the band as they will be inducted into the Arizona Music Hall of Fame on July 2nd and told everyone “You are all invited!”

The evening closed with an encore song, one more shot from the Mexican Moonshine and a reminder for everyone to “Go in peace,” and to get home safely. In all, a wonderful concert shared by many fans who have all been reminded to go to Mexico for the annual concert in Rocky Point, Mexico and a promise to return next year for the 2020 Whiskey Off-Road event.
