Accident Injures Pedestrians

On Thursday February 7, 2019 at approximately 10:34 AM Prescott Police Officers responded to the intersection of Gurley Street and Cortez Street in reference to an injury accident involving 2 pedestrians and a sedan.

Katherine Sibley, a 23 year old Prescott resident, driving a 2006 VW was northbound on Cortez when she made a left turn onto Gurley.  At the same time as she was turning, 2 pedestrians were crossing Gurley, lawfully in the crosswalk and with the light.

Unfortunately, Sibley didn’t see the pedestrians and stuck them both.  Each pedestrian was treaded at the scene and transported to YRMC for injuries to include lacerations and one of them had a possible broken leg.  The roadway was closed for approximately 40 minutes while the Prescott PD traffic safety section investigated the collision.  Sibley was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

In related news, we have initial reports of a victim on a skateboard who was also struck by a vehicle this afternoon in Prescott. She was transported to medical care for precautionary reasons.
