Will the Monsoon Show Up This Week? Featured

Is rain on the way?

The first monsoon rains could show up later this week, just in time for the official start of the monsoon season which runs from June 15 through September, thanks to Hurricane Bud.

Rainfall totals for the quad-city area aren’t expected to be high, with a possibility of only 0.1-0.25" of rain in the first moisture of the monsoon season. A drop in temperatures is also expected to accompany the system.

Thursday will likely remain warm and dry during the day, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 PM.

Temperatures should cool down considerably by Friday, which currently offers the best chance for rain and thunderstorms. The high on Friday should reach 79, and there’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, increasing to 50% Friday night.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 75º in the quad-city area, and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

By Sunday, it is expected to dry out again, but temperatures will remain cooler, only reaching 79º. Monday, the high will be around 82º, rising to 84º on Tuesday and Wednesday.
