Democratic Women of the Prescott Area Fundraiser to Hear from Guest Speaker Joseline Mata Featured

Democratic Women of the Prescott Area Holiday Fundraising Party, December 10, Guest Speaker Joseline Mata

PRESCOTT – November 30, 2017 – The Democratic Women of the Prescott Area (DWPA) are hosting their annual Holiday Fundraising Party, Sunday, December 10, 5:00 to 8:30 PM at the Hassayampa Inn, Marina Room. This year’s guest speaker is Joseline Mata, Vice Chair Arizona Democratic Party and President of the College Democrats of America.

The biggest DWPA fundraising event of the year begins with a silent auction from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, followed by a traditional Italian buffet dinner from 6:00-6:30. Mata speaks at 6:30, followed by the presentation of the Jerry Emmett award for service to the Democratic Party. 

The Jerry Emmett Award was established in 2010 by the Democratic Women of the Prescott Area in honor of its founding chairwoman. “It recognizes Democrats who have gone above and beyond the norm to contribute time, talent and effort to the Democratic cause in Prescott,” stated Toni Denis, Chair of the Yavapai County Democratic Party. Previous recipients have included Vivian Perry, Jo Kelleher, Dick Lewis, James Kimes and Dawn Knight.

Entertainment with dancing begins at 7:00, with a cash bar 5:00 to 8:30 PM. Tickets are $50 per person and $90 per couple, tables of eight are $350.  Tickets may be purchased with a credit or debit card using https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dwpa-fundraiser or by check to DWPA. RSVP and ticket purchase deadline is Wednesday, December 6th. The event is open to members and non-members. 

DWPA was founded in 1988 by Jerry Emmett, who said “We must continue to do our part to make sure our voices are translated into action.” The Democratic Women of the Prescott Area (DWPA) is a 527 political committee with membership open to any registered Democrat. It is affiliated with the national and state Federations. The DWPA board grants Emerge Arizona scholarships to train Democratic women to run for office and college scholarships for graduating seniors who are registered Democrats or, if they are too young to vote, who have a Democratic parent, grandparent or guardian.
