Rep. Lawrence Thanks House Judiciary Committee for Passage of Crime Evasion Mask Bill

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Representative Jay Lawrence (R-23) today thanked the House Judiciary & Public Safety Committee for passing HB 2007, legislation he sponsored to expand the list of aggravating circumstances for sentencing to include using a mask or other disguise to obscure a perpetrator’s face during the commission of the crime.

“In Arizona, we will not tolerate masks and hoods being worn by people while they commit a crime,” said Representative Lawrence. “This bill doesn’t infringe on the first amendment rights of anyone, but rather holds those accountable who are committing a crime while wearing a mask or hood to disguise their identity.”
