At about 8:45 this morning, August 24, 2017, the Cottonwood Fire and Medical Department, Cottonwood Police Department and Verde Valley Ambulance Company responded to the 900 block of South Camino Real for a report of an ATV accident. Upon arrival, firefighters found that an elderly male riding an ATV had struck a parked backhoe that had been cleaning up debris from the roadway. Patient was treated on scene by Cottonwood Fire & Medical Department and Verde Valley Ambulance personnel. Patient was subsequently transported to Cottonwood Airport where care was transferred to medical helicopter personnel. Patient was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center by Guardian Medical helicopter with multi-system trauma.
