11 State Champ Titles for Chino Valley Cougar Archery Team Featured

By Randi Diskin, Citizen Reporter April 09, 2017 596

Chino Valley Cougar Archery Team brings home 11 State Champ Titles.

On March 11, the Chino Valley Cougar Archery Team took 21 elementary students and 26 middle school students to the Arizona State Archery Tournament at Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix.

"We came away with 11 State Champ Titles (students placing in the top 10 of their division) and both schools placing as teams- Del Rio took first place as a team and Heritage Middle School took third place. These results amounted to 26 students qualifying to compete in Louisville, Kentucky, May 11-13, 2017. Last year we sent one student, so we were amazed by the showcase of our archers. Because it's so far and so expensive, we are sending 9 Individual Qualifiers and the Heritage team, which consists of the top 12 scores."

“This is my 7th year working with the program, and these successes are truly a testament to the growing support of the Chino Valley Community,” Randi Diskin explained.

"We had the labor and resources donated (approximately $15,000) to construct a field for this year. Our program tripled since last year, and here we are sending 18 kids to the National competition in Louisville, Kentucky.”

If you would like to help send these kids to Kentucky, join us at our Mexican Food/Silent Auction benefit dinner. It will be held on April 21 at Del Rio Elementary School.
