Trail Work Crew every Wednesday starting on March 1st Featured

Debbie Maneely

Volunteers sought for a Verde Valley trail crew.

Camp Verde, AZ (January 30, 2017) –– The Prescott National Forest Trails and Wilderness program is looking for a few good volunteers to do trail work Wednesdays starting on March 1, 2017. The Forest has had a successful volunteer trail crew called “Over the Hill Gang” in Prescott since the 1990s and is looking to establish similar efforts in the Verde Valley. If you are interested in giving back to your community and public lands consider joining us on Wednesdays to help build and maintain our local trail system.

The Forest Service has a strong commitment to safety and all volunteers must be equipped with long sleeve shirt, long pants, sturdy work boots, and eye protection. Tools, hard hats and leather gloves are provided. Be sure to bring enough water and food for 3-4 hours of trail work.

Interested volunteers can show up on any Wednesday after March 1st in front of the Verde Ranger Station, 300 E. Highway 260, Camp Verde AZ, at 8 AM. We will then commute to the worksite from the office; and return by 12 PM.
