Rock Slide Causes Traffic Problems on SR-89 Featured

With the melting snow, came tumbling rocks on Highway 89 just south of Prescott.

Those driving between Prescott and Wilhoit encountered road delays Tuesday afternoon after a rock slide covered much of the road.

ADOT posted the information to Twitter around 1 PM Tuesday. Crews closed the road at one point, then opened it to traffic in alternating directions for much of the afternoon.

The road was cleared by around 5 PM.

In addition to the large rockslide at mile marker 304, other smaller rockslides were evident alongside the road.
