Rimrock Family Dispute Results In Shooting - 1 Dead Featured

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office releases preliminary information on a shooting.

Around 1115 pm last night, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the 3900 block of Meadow Lane, Rimrock, regarding an assault. It has since been determined a 25-year-old Village of Oak Creek man and his 23-year male roommate, went to the location to confront the 52-year-old resident regarding an ongoing family dispute. The 25-year-old is the stepson to the 52-year-old resident and they are estranged. A 17-year-old male, who lives at the Meadow Lane home, was also involved and his the stepson’s half-brother. During a confrontation, the stepson attacked his stepdad resulting in multiple injuries, including an apparent orbital fracture. The 17-year-old Meadow Lane resident was also attacked. Injuries unknown at this time. The assault eventually stopped and the 2 suspects (stepson and his roommate) refused to leave and before they could attack again, the step dad grabbed a handgun and shot both of them. The stepson eventually succumbed to his injuries and died. His roommate was shot in the groin area and was treated and later released.
Detectives were on scene throughout the day gathering evidence. The firearm was recovered. No arrests have been made as of this writing. Detectives are considering several issues in the case, including the possibility the stepdad fired in self-defense.
