7-Year-Old Recognized For Efforts in Saving His Grandmother Featured

Seth Miller was recognized for his recent efforts in saving his grandmother, who had fallen and broken her leg.

The Prescott Fire Department honored Seth Miller Friday as he attended his regular classes at Abia Judd School.

Miller, who is just seven years old, was hiking with his grandmother on Constellation Trail, when she fell and broke her leg. Unable to get reception at her location, she sent her grandson to find help.

As dusk arrived, Miller hiked the 1/3 of a mile along the trail. Making his way to the parking lot, Miller found some hikers who were able to call 9-1-1.

When the first of two Prescott Fire engines responded, Miller led the firemen back to his injured grandmother.

The firemen were impressed with Miller’s composure, explaining, "He was a capable, self-assured fellow who remained calm throughout the event and helped lighten the mood of everyone present.”

With Firefighter Pat McCarty leading the congratulations, Battalion Chief Corey Moser presented Miller with a certificate and a challenge coin.
