Bill's Newscast: YC Considers RESA Wearables Lease Featured

It’s an exciting new industry.

Road construction

Road overlay work gets underway in various areas of Yavapai County today.  Public Works crews will be performing an asphalt overlay project on Sunrise Drive in Yarnell, Rimrock Road in Paulden, Esperanza Road in Chino Valley and Old Black Canyon Highway in Prescott.  This work includes overlaying the existing roads with new asphalt and new guardrail on Old Black Canyon Highway.  One lane of traffic will remain open at all times but drivers could encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds and flagging operations through the work zone.  Construction is scheduled to run until April 12th.

Yavapai College Board & RESA

The Yavapai College District Governing Board meets at 1 Tuesday afternoon to consider a lease with the Resa Wearables Company.  The lease is for 3 years at the college’s Career Technical Education Center on Ruger Road.  Resa uses pop-up centers in major retail outlets to measure a customer’s foot digitally.  Artificial intelligence software takes the information and produces a 3D image of the foot and insole that goes directly to the customer’s e-mail.  If they decide to buy the insole, a 3D Resa printer produces a pair in about an hour.   The lease will allow a direct link for Yavapai College students who are in training for jobs with the manufacturer.  The College Board meeting will be held in the Rock House on the Prescott campus on Sheldon Street.

Lane closures in CV

Lane closures are in effect starting tonight on Highway 89 in Chino Valley.  Crack seal work is taking place from 7 pm to 5 am through Friday from East Road 1 South and Road 4 North.  Highway 89 will be narrowed to 1 lane in each direction while work is underway and the speed limit will be reduced from 45 to 35 miles per hour.  These closures were originally scheduled to start last Tuesday, but they were postponed due to the weather.  Meanwhile, on 89 between the Highway 89A and Pioneer Parkway interchange and the Granite Dells, City of Prescott crews are installing new asphalt pavement.  Miscellaneous concrete work is also being performed near the future roundabout and the entrance to the Phippen Museum.  One lane of traffic is open in both directions at all times.  Work hours are 7 am to 7 pm through this Saturday.
