Bill's Newscast: Airport Update Featured

The Airport Advisory Committee will get an update on Wings Out West.

Going up!?

The Prescott Valley Town Council meets at 5:30 tonight to discuss a project that would restore the Civic Center elevators.  According to Public Works Operations Manager Alex Romero, the elevators haven’t had any enhancements since 1999.  Panels and flooring have endured years of usage and are ready for restoration.  Town staff had requested written quotes for this work back in November.  Only one quote was received.  Staff next conducted a formal bid process that resulted in no bids submitted for this service.  As a result, it has been requested services be awarded to the only company that responded to the initial request, the Chandler based Tomar Elevator Components in the amount of more than 26 thousand dollars.  The Prescott Valley Town Council meeting will be held in the Library Auditorium on Civic Circle.

New School Board member in Cottonwood.

The Cottonwood-Oak Creek Elementary School District Board has a new member.  Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced Eric Marcus has been appointed to the board as of Tuesday.  Marcus is a Cornville resident and a former instructor at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside.  He was selected from 5 well-qualified candidates.  Carter individually interviewed the candidates and then spoke with the current Board members, as well as District administration about the finalists.  Twenty-nine public comments were also received regarding the candidates.  The school board vacancy is due to the resignation of former member Linda Walker. The term runs through December 31st of this year.

Airport Advisory Committee meeting on Friday

The Prescott Airport Advisory Committee meets at 2 tomorrow afternoon to get an update on Wings Out West.  Thousands of people came out to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus last October for the Wings Out West airshow, which featured acrobatic flying demonstrations and planes on display.  Embry-Riddle’s Chairman of the Flight Department, Jerry Kidrick is scheduled to give the update.  The Prescott Airport Advisory Committee will also discuss an Airport Economic Impact Study that has been approved by City Council. The meeting will be held in the Airport Administrative Conference Room on Crystal Lane.
