The Ram Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Opens at Prescott Valley Event Center

PRESCOTT VALLEY- The Ram Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals started its three-day competition at the Prescott Valley Event Center, Thursday, October 6th, as thousands came to the inaugural event; which previously took place in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

“Great venue, couldn’t have a better place to have this event,” said Albuquerque, New Mexico native bullrider Scottie Knapp, who previously competed in the Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals in New Mexico. “It’s indoors, you know, if the weather gets bad we ain’t got to worry about that. Stock is bucking well.”

Fans saw the best from the Turquoise Circuit compete in Bare Back Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-down Roping Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding with a win-or-go-home format and a $150,000 of prize money up for grabs. Throughout the three-day event, individuals will be going for a spot in the Wrangler National Finals in Las Vegas.

“Best of the best in the Turquoise Circuit,” Bullfighter from Taylor, Arizona Clifford Maxwell said. “These guys have rode at all the rodeos all year long, they got to go to a minimum of 15 to qualify for this Turquoise Circuit. So you’ve got the best of the best.”

After months of work, including turning the Prescott Valley Event Center from a basketball court to a rodeo arena in just a matter of days, General Manager Scott Norton was thrilled with the first-night results.

“It was a lot of hard effort between all the parties but it all came off great,” Norton said. “We’ve received great comments from all the participants, we’re very happy.”
