Bill's Newscast: Roadwork on 89 to Commence Featured

A new roundabout is being installed near the Phippen.

CYFD, Chino Valley Fire District and CAFMA to change meeting dates, times and locations

New meeting times and a new location for area Fire District Boards.   During their meetings last Tuesday, the Central Yavapai, Chino Valley and Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority Boards voted to move their meetings to the 4th Monday of the month.  Officials say the change is necessary to allow agency staff to finalize financial documents and still get the board packets out a week in advance.  The boards had been meeting on the third Tuesday of the month.  In addition, the order of the meetings has been changed so the Chino Valley Fire District Board meets first, from 4 to 4:30.  The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority will follow from 4:30 to 5:30 and the Central Yavapai Fire District Board will meet from 5:30 to 6.  This change is needed since the Central Yavapai meetings have been running long and have been putting the other 2 meetings behind.  The District Boards are expected to start meeting in the new Administrative Facility, located on Eastridge Drive in Prescott Valley starting next month.

Chip sealing starting in Yavapai County

Watch for delays throughout Yavapai County as chip and fog seal work gets started today.  Yavapai County Public Works will be performing this work on various roads in the communities of Congress, Spring Valley, Peeples Valley, Yarnell, Bagdad and Hillside.  One lane of traffic will be open at all times in all construction zones and access to homes and businesses will remain open.  For specific information on which roads will be worked on, go online to yavapai.us/public works or call 771-3183.  Construction is scheduled to run through October 11th.

New roundabout on Highway 89

The City of Prescott and contractor Asphalt Paving and Supply are starting a road and utility upgrade project on Highway 89.   The project limits include 89 between the 98A and Pioneer Parkway Interchange and Granite Dells.  City officials say improvements include the widening of the highway from 2 to 4 lanes, water and sewer upgrades, removing and replacing the existing asphalt concrete and construction of a new roundabout near the Phippen Museum.  City of Prescott Project Manager Steven Orosz says the Museum has been a great partner in the planning process.

The project also includes a new parking area at the Constellation Trail System.

Work hours are 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday.  The project is scheduled for completion by next Spring.
