This marks the second GATORADE Call-Up for O’Bryant this season

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Charlotte Hornets announced today that they have signed Northern Arizona Suns forward Johnny O’Bryant to a 10-day contract.

This marks the second GATORADE Call-Up of the season for O’Bryant, who earned the first Suns’ GATORADE Call-Up in team history when he signed with the Denver Nuggets earlier this season.

The 6-foot 9-inch, 257-pound forward remains one of 17 D-League players to get called up this season, and this marks the league’s 23rd GATORADE Call-Up on the year.

He is one of two former Northern Arizona players who is currently on an NBA roster, as Derrick Jones Jr. is with the Phoenix Suns. NAZ is one of 13 teams in the D-League to have a player get a GATORADE Call-Up this season.

O’Bryant joins his fourth NBA team in his career.

He has played seven games in the NBA this season after playing with the Nuggets on two 10-day contracts, where he tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds in 46 total minutes. He was called up by Denver on Jan. 26.

O’Bryant was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft with the 36th overall pick. There he played 100 games (19 starts) over the course of two seasons for Milwaukee, averaging 3.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game.

He joined the Washington Wizards in September of 2016, where he played in four preseason games.

Since playing with the Nuggets, the Louisiana State product played in the D-League All-Star Game and one NAZ Suns game. He achieved nine points and a rebound in the All-Star Game on Saturday, and recorded 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists in his lone game back in Prescott Valley in a win against the Windy City Bulls on Wednesday.

In total for Northern Arizona, he started 25 games, averaging 18.3 points on 45.5 percent shooting and 8.6 rebounds in 31.9 minutes per game.

O’Bryant had 10 double-doubles on the season for the Suns, earned an honorable mention at the Showcase, and was named the D-League Performer of the Week for games played from Jan. 9-15.
