2016 Veterans Day Parade in Prescott Pays Tribute to Female Veterans Featured

City of Prescott

Prescott Veterans Day Parade is this Friday in Downtown Prescott

PRESCOTT, AZ –"Honoring Women in the Military; past, Present and Future," is this year’s theme for the Prescott Veterans Day Parade, which will take place in downtown Prescott, at 11 a.m., Nov. 11, 2016.

The parade will honor female veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as all who have served in our Nation’s Armed Forces.

Prior to the start of the parade there will be an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Yavapai County Courthouse with comments from Mayor Harry Oberg, VA Medical Center’s, Karen Wilhoite, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers, and will feature the posting of the colors, Pledge of Allegiance, and a performance of the National Anthem.

After beginning at 11 a.m., the parade will pause at 11:11 a.m. for a fly-over and reading of the proclamation to commemorate the end of World War I, on Nov. 11, 1918.

More than 90 entries have signed up to participate in the parade, surpassing last year’s tally of 82 entries.   This year, parade entries will compete in six categories, including non-profit organizations, fraternal organizations, motorized groups, music, marching units, and hospital entries by veterans.

A first-place trophy will be awarded in each category, and a plaque will be given to the best over-all entry.

Special accommodations will be provided by the VA Medical Center for transportation and seating for those in need

The Prescott Media Center is proud to support our local veterans and will provide a LIVE broadcast of the 2016 Veterans Day Parade, giving you the ability to watch from anywhere. Tune in to CableOne Channel 64 or our LIVE Stream in HD at prescottmediacenter.org.
