As of 4 PM today, the Tenderfoot fire at 4,040 acres is 30% contained.
There are 353 personnel assigned to fight the Tenderfoot Fire, including:
6 Hotshot crews
2 Type 2 initial attack crews
2 light, 3 heavy helicopters
2 air attack fixed wing aircraft platforms
According to Inciweb, "Fire activity today was moderated by moisture received on the fire Friday night, and cooler day time temperatures with higher humidity than yesterday. Crews continued to patrol fire lines on the perimeter of the fire near Yarnell and along the east side of the fire. Progress was also made in keeping the fire from growing to the north using direct attack methods supported by helicopters. Heavy air tankers were not required today due to moderating fire conditions.”
Incident Commander Alan Sinclair noted, “Work of the heavy air tankers made a significant contribution towards reducing the spread of fire on the north side of the incident yesterday.”
Although State Highway 89 is open to traffic, they are enforcing a speed limit of 25 MPH.
