WHAT: Emergency medical training focused on bee stings, anaphylactic shock

WHERE: Glendale Fire Station 157

South Classroom

9658 North 59 Avenue

Glendale, AZ 85302

WHEN: Wednesday, May 11, 2016

9:30 a.m.

WHY: On April 24, 2016, Mayor Weiers was mowing his lawn when bees swarmed him. He ran for safety inside his garage while the bees pursued and continued stinging him. Inside the house, Mayor Weiers' wife, Sandy, extracted more than 20 stingers.

As temperatures continue to rise, so will bee activity. To help keep everyone safe this summer, Mayor Jerry Weiers, along with the Glendale Fire Department, will provide bee safety tips while the Glendale Fire Department provides hands-on bee sting and anaphylactic shock refresher training to all firefighters.
