Downtown Glendale Hosts Mother's Day Celebration May 7 Featured

Moms Can Enjoy a Special Day of Shopping, Dining and More

GLENDALE, Ariz. –Poet Robert Browning said “Motherhood: all love begins and ends there.” Show your mother how much you love and appreciate her with a special day in Historic Downtown Glendale and Catlin Court from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are encouraged to start their day at the Glendale Visitor Center, 5800 W. Glenn Dr., Suite 140, to pick up an event map. The first 250 moms will receive a free gift grab bag.

In addition, the Glendale Visitor Center,in partnership with Soroptimist International of the Kachinas of Glendale,wants to honor all deployed women by collecting donations forOperation Women Warriors. The Operation Women Warriors project will send specialized care packages to female soldiers stationed overseas. Needed items include bulk hard candies, travel-sized toiletries, facial lotion with sunscreen, foot cream, SPF lip balm, personal hygiene products, cough drops and hair bands. Once on your way from the Visitor Center, you’ll discover special deals at select merchants, gift ideas and activities, including $15 readings and $5 massages in The Astrology Store. Desert Rose Pizza and Gastropub will offer $10 off a lunch purchase for moms (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and Cerreta Candy Company is offering a fun activity that can double as a gift for mom (or anyone!) For just $25, twopeople can dip, decorate and create Marshmallow and Strawberry Pops, which even come with their own display box.Even better?If anyone donates tothe OperationWarrior Woman supply drive, they will receive a coupon for 25% off,making it $20 for two to create!Finally, Ollie the Trolley will be circulating throughout the downtown area to transport visitors to different destinations, including Cerreta Candy Company at no charge.
