Update, Thursday, 10:20 AM: A second main break has occurred at Shea Blvd and 64th Street. Additional information to follow. Traffic restrictions remain the same as earlier indicated.
At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, a 12-inch water main broke near the intersection of Shea Blvd. and 64th Street in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale Water will be working through the night and into Thursday evening to repair both the broken water main and the damaged roadway.
All eastbound lanes of Shea Blvd. are closed between 60th and 66th streets. Traffic control barricades are in place on Shea Blvd. with travel reduced to one eastbound and two westbound lanes (using the westbound lanes). All left turns are prohibited at the Shea Blvd./64th Street intersection.
Traffic restrictions are expected to be in place until late Thursday while crews work to repair approximately 300 linear feet of damaged roadway across all three eastbound lanes of Shea Blvd.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
