Mobile Home Fire Displaces 3 in Tucson Featured

Captain Barrett Baker

More Than a Dozen Calls to 9-1-1 Reporting Fire

Dispatch Time - 11:02 P.M

On-Scene Time - 11:06 P.M.

Under Control -  11:18 P.M.

Three people were displaced from their mobile home in the 5300 block of South Park after a fire destroyed it late Saturday night.  More than a dozen calls were made to 9-1-1 reporting smoke and flames from the mobile home.  One of the residents was playing on a gaming system when he heard a loud bang from the garage area.  He opened to the door to investigate and saw the flames and felt a huge wave of heat.  He tried to initially tried to put it out with few buckets of water but was unsuccessful.  The resident as well as the other two occupants, who were in a back bedroom, all evacuated the home safely.

TFD crews arrived on scene to the mobile home heavily involved in fire and immediately pulled multiple hose lines to try and surround the home and prevent the fire from spreading to the exposures to the north.

The large amount of fire prevented the crews from entering the home but crews did know the occupants and a hamster were already out safely. The crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to two other homes to the north and the fire was called under control 12 minutes after the first crew arrived.  Nine units and twenty-three firefighters responded to the scene.  No firefighters were injured but the resident did sustain blistering on his hand and was treated on scene by TFD paramedics.  The three residents, two 19 year-old males and a 20 year-old female, were going receive assistance from Red Cross as the mobile home was a total loss.  Fire investigators were on scene but no cause or origin of the fire had been determined.  This was the second fire in the mobile home park over the last 7 days but the fires are not related.

Origin – Under investigation

Cause –Under investigation
