Department of Agriculture Staff Donates to Area Food Bank

(Phoenix) As part of Turkey Tuesday, director Mark Killian rallied staff at the Department of Agriculture to bring in donations for St. Vincent de Paul.

“We may be smaller than other state departments, but we have big hearts,” said Killian. “Our employees know there are hungry people in Phoenix and are more than willing to hitch up the wagon and help.”

Turkeys, cans of vegetables and boxes of food piled up as staff walked into work this morning. By noon the table was piled high with non-perishables and 32 turkeys.

Food donated to St. Vincent de Paul this month is shared with needy families and feeds those in need through the next summer.

The charity operates five dining rooms around the county that prepare and serve 4,000 meals each day.
